Is Focus T25 like Insanity, only shorter?
T25 vs Insanity. You know the debate is going to start soon: Which is better? Insanity or T25? How will each program help me achieve my goals? Let’s take a look at what you need to know.
What is T25?
Focus T25 is Shaun T’s newest, craziest workout designed to get you SERIOUS results in only 25 minutes a day.
Shaun T is the creator of the #1 infomercial in the nation, INSANITY. Insanity is known for being the hardest workout ever put on DVD. But if you’ve ever done it, you know it delivers serious results in 60 days.
Since Focus T25 is a Shaun T workout, you can expect it will difficult. Yes, you will be expected to push yourself. In fact, that’s why it’s named Focus T25. Because you are expected to FOCUS and push for 25 minutes straight.
T25 vs Insanity – types of exercises
Both T25 and Insanity will contain a mixture of plyometric, cardio, and strength training exercises.
In Insanity, all exercises require only the use of your body weight.
In T25, a circuit training component is added where you will use weights – either dumbbells or a resistance band.
T25 vs Insanity: What Fitness Level Do I Need to Be?
INSANITY is typically considered more of an advanced level program. However, you can still modify your way through it and succeed.
In Insanity, no modifier is shown in the DVDs, but in T25 there is a modifier and modification shown for every exercise.
I think T25 will be more of an intermediate program because of the shorter length of the workouts, plus the strength training components, plus the use of a modifier.
Yes, you will work your butt off, but because of T25′s shorter nature, I think even less fit people will manage to make their way through it.
If you ever need help in how to modify your program, ask your coach.
T25 vs Insanity: Program Length
T25 is a 10 week program. The workouts are 25 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Perfect for normal human beings!
Insanity is a 60 day conditioning program. The workouts are 6 days a week. In month 1, the workouts average 40 minutes in length. In month 2, the workouts are closer to an hour. A couple of days of the second month can be up to 90 minutes of training.
In the Insanity workout, you may be familiar with the concept of workout blocks. Each block contains 4 exercises. You get a rest between each block. You perform each block three times, increasing your pace and work level each time.
During a T25 workout, there are no breaks. Every second counts. You must focus for 25 straight minutes. Because of not having any breaks, you will feel like you work out a lot longer.
Phases of T25 vs Insanity:
T25 is broken down into 3 phases: alpha, beta, and gamma.
Alpha: The alpha phase of T25 is the foundation phase. It is designed to fire up your muscles. Every move and every exercise is benefiting you in a certain way. It includes endurance, cardio, and strength building exercises.
Beta: The beta phase focuses on your core. It concentrates on strength, speed, and moves that tighten and tone your body.
Gamma: The gamma phase focuses on your strength. In this phase you will find out how strong you are. It will contain both resistance and agility.
Every exercise in every phase of T25 focuses on great form and great technique.
In the Insanity workout, there’s only two phases: month 1 and month 2. Month 2 is not drastically different from month 1, except that the workouts are longer and it is designed to really test your cardiovascular endurance. Fat shredding is on high speed in month 2 of Insanity.
T25 vs Insanity – equipment needed
Insanity does not require the use of equipment at all.
The required equipment for T25 is pretty minimal. At most, You need dumbbells, resistance bands, and a mat. But even the dumbbells and mat are optional.
You can use a resistance band for strength exercises. And if you’re comfortable working out on your floor, a mat isn’t necessary either. It’s up to you!
Why was T25 Created?
While Shaun T created T25, it was at the request of Carl Daikeler, Beachbody’s busy CEO, who didn’t have an hour to an hour and a half to workout every day.
In all honestly, most people don’t have hours to workout every day. That probably includes you.
If you ask me, it’s kind of funny that a guy like Carl Daikeler is the CEO of Beachbody. T25 was created because he didn’t have time to workout for an hour every day. And Shakeology was created because he hates eating his vegetables. A little ironic if you ask me! But he certainly walks the walk.
